The True Statement on the Word “Terrorism” in the Holy Book, the Great Qur’an …
In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful, and peace and blessings upon all the Prophets, Messengers, their pure families, and all believers who preceded us and hasten in doing good. Then…
Allah, the Exalted, says:
{وَأَعِدُّوا لَهُم مَا اسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن قُوَّةٍ وَمِن رِّبَاطِ الْخَيْلِ تُرْهِبُونَ بِهِ عَدُوَّ اللَّهِ وَعَدُوَّكُمْ وَآخَرِينَ مِن دُونِهِمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَهُمُ اللَّهُ يَعْلَمُهُمْ ۚ وَمَا تُنفِقُوا مِن شَيْءٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ يُوَفَّ إِلَيْكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ لَا تُظْلَمُونَ (٦٠)}
Surah Al‑Anfāl, verse 60
Indeed, Allah has spoken (Al‑Anfāl).
Now the correct explanation of the word “terrorism”: for Allah this does not mean a call to fight the enemy of Allah and your enemy. Rather, it refers to preparing war equipment so that the enemy of Allah becomes fearful, thereby preventing him from plotting against you. It is a warning to those who would scheme against you. If Allah’s intention were truly to call for fighting, how could you combat peoples whose hostility toward you you do not even know? In reality, the verse speaks of spending on the preparation of military gear—not declaring war on your enemies—so that the enemy is deterred from conspiring against you. Be God‑fearing and contemplate the Qur’an correctly.
We advocate worldwide peace among all peoples and peaceful coexistence between Muslims and non‑Muslims. Yet some terrorists misuse this verse to justify their violent acts. We counter their argument with truth, saying:
“Allah’s purpose in this verse is to command the expenditure for preparing war materiel so that your visible and invisible enemies will not dare to plot against you. Thus you can stop their evil and the spilling of blood.”
Allah will support those who support Him; He is strong and mighty.
Islam is a religion that calls for global peace, the prevention of corruption, the cessation of bloodshed, and the protection of humans from oppression. There is no compulsion in faith; whoever wishes may believe, and whoever does not may disbelieve. Your duty is to convey the message, and Allah will ultimately hold accountable those who reject the truth. He has promised Paradise to the grateful and Hellfire to the disbelievers. This is the message of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Allah says:
{قُلْ هَـٰذِهِ سَبِيلِي أَدْعُو إِلَى ٱللَّهِ عَلَىٰ بَصِيرَةٍ أَنَا وَمَنِ اتَّبَعَنِي وَسُبْحَانَ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ (١٠٨)}
Surah Yūsuf, verse 108
Truly, Allah has said (Yūsuf).
Be God‑fearing, reflect deeply on these reminders, and do not distort Allah’s words from their intended context. Peace be upon the messengers, and praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.
